CATHEDRAL - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

Cathedral

In the cathedral of books, there is a stream of sounds and silence
Amongst the tomes that line walls of wood and floors of marble, the chorus takes their places
Librarians lift up their quills, as conductors of this symphony of finesse
Scattered thoughts scribbled on pieces of paper, as children scurry towards their section
Variety of words, from nonsensical to philosophical tune up for the melody of existence
Man and woman cradle and read
Woman and woman kiss amongst the poetry aisle
Man and man flip through graphic novels and touch hands with warmth
Democracy is the hymn hummed in this cathedral
Clasp book in palms, open it with heeded anticipation
Everyone....let's begin our prayer:
"Celestial angels, we thank you for these feathers upon pages that caress our imagination, mind and soul...."
Cathedral's magical wisdom blesses our brains with letters, images and the tune of yesterday, today and tomorrow contained
