SPINNER - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

SPINNER

Spin up
Spin down
Spin towards heaven
Spin towards the Devil's stompin' ground
Spin a yarn, but don't make 'em yawn
Spin a groove that makes your ass move
Spin the void of darkness towards tomorrow
Spin the thread of golden light into horizon's rainbow
Spin and sigh, as life expands before your eyes
Spinners are winners, for at least they try
And, if you don't believe what I say - be like the Rubberband Man and roll away

AFTER THE FOOTLIGHTS START TO FADE - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

AFTER THE FOOTLIGHTS START TO FADE

...When the mask comes on, the persona is strong. At the end of the night, Noxzema reveals the girl of years gone by. Wipe off the grime of the leeches that affix to the mask and I'm left as me - Simply Norma Jean.....

...Not angel, I am far from that. Yet, I am not this creation of the studios and the photogs craning their necks to get that perfect shot.

....Playing the dumb blond is my bread and butter. But, give me the chance and I'll prove I can make a main course out of a juicy character. You see, I ain't so dumb after all.....

...Footlights fade....but the myth forever lingers on like a wisp of Chanel upon the wrist....

FIRE IN THE DARK - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

Fire In The Dark

Wooden heart burns in flames of dejection
Tears stain the walls of all forms of rejection
Two lovers grapple in the darkness of Winter
Releasing the sorrow of longing in the Spring
Darkness was never our destination
But, yet here we are once more...

VANISH - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"When we attempt to be somebody we are not, those pieces of what makes us all so unique begins to fade away. You won't be the jock or cheerleader getting the glory. You won't be hearing the applause from the cheering crowd. But, you will be the person adored by the heavens for just being you. And, that will never vanish". - A.H. Scott 12/19/12

MORPH - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

 Morph

Grasping at straws
Trying to ignore the flaws
Best foot forward we all try
Yet, rhythm is a thing which can pass you by
Could I be another?
Younger, older
Stronger, wiser
Thinner, prettier
The answer is like a shadow on the wall
Being the certain him or her would be so swell
Morphing mannerisms we hope would shade ourselves from defeat
Stay one step ahead
Quease of lingering dread
The mirror don't lie
Even as hard as a person may attempt to be sly
You've gotta live with the person that is a singular soul
There is only one like you
Even in those heady moments you wish to be like somebody else
There is no I in Him or Her
Morph into the treasure trove of your own heart

BUCKLED - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

B u c k l e d

Why wait?
Tomorrow may be too late
My knees buckle when he walks into the room
Yet, every other woman has his attention, but me
Why wait?

Oh, I know I'm a fool to hesitate
But, if I put myself forward into his eye's view.....the mystery will vanish

Buckle my nerves with knees knocking and Kleenex grasped between fingers
Like a girl with a crush of decades past....I wonder will I ever be good enough to pass?
Not the test of time is what I imagine to not pass with flying colors in his eyes
Yet, failing to be the woman he would be proud of having on his arm as he enters a room
Why wait?

My lips are mute
As is the answer I could speak to myself
Why wait is not the question I should hear inside my head?
Rather, it should be: Are you willing to take a chance?
You'll never know if you don't speak up
Buck up
Walk up to that man who has bewitched you and say one word - HELLO...

SUN RISE ON SUCCESS - A.H. SCOTT

"Sun RISE on success. Sun SET on self doubt. When you can see yourself as being worthy of accepting opportunities around you, the world starts to see you in a different light. Crumbs of shattered esteem just rolls right off your back, as the glimmer of possibility beams brightly before your eyes. The sunshine is all around you, if you just let the rays of warmth melt away the icicles of remorse and rejection. Success isn't about possessions. Success is the sparkle in your eye." - A.H. Scott 12/13/11

READY! AIM! INSPIRE! - A.H. SCOTT

"Bite your lip. Bite your tongue. When we expect perfection, it will never come. Bite the bullet and realize YOU are in the moment. Your hand holds the starting gun. Bang-Bang!! Rust is the crust of life's experience. Without a little grime on an unblemished canvas, all the portraits would be blank eyes staring out from mediocrity. READY! AIM! INSPIRE!!" - A.H. Scott 12/13/12

EMBRACE THE DARK - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

Embrace The Dark

Embrace the dark
Embrace the spark
Embrace that first gaze that set us off on this lark
Embrace our age, which allows us this elevated stage
Embrace the fact it sets us above the fray
Embrace aroused egos and let us play
Embrace strands around your nimble fingers
Embrace the grip a bit tighter, as I wink back at ya'
Embrace you with a tug from soft hands pulling long
Embrace my torso with your hands so strong
Embrace my untamed charms all night long
Embrace switches place, as I run fingers against floor
Embrace the fact that I want more, more, more
Embrace your passion, I know I can never be harnessed
Embrace this reality which I see with eyes wide open
Embrace what this moment brings
Embrace a vision of me that you might not have guessed
Embrace that I know you better than you think
Embrace bodies together in delight and dark
Embrace desire which fulfills two lonely hearts
Embrace eruption about to scatter life upon me
Embrace all I have to give
Embrace my eyes as I cautiously stare
Embrace I regret nothing in what we share
Embrace knowing I'm the one woman who dared....

EMBRACE THE LIGHT - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

Embrace The Light

Embrace the light
Embrace the night
Embrace the flirtation we had at first sight
Embrace the moment we knew it was right
Embrace the air that wraps around here and there
Embrace forever in a kiss at dawn
Embrace the future in every morn
Embrace chances that don't just come like the wind
Embrace the hope for something beautiful to begin
Embrace it before snow drifts away
Embrace me in knowing I won't just fade away
Embrace the sun
It's waiting for ya'

FEATURE OF THE MONTH - "OVER MY HEAD: HAYWIRE" BY A.H. SCOTT

<<DECEMBER 2018>>

Iris Mendoza held door with right hand, while banging it with his left in a screaming match at eager Espo and apprehensive Angela. Music rolled through those headphones in a rapturous rhythm, as a single shot was fired from behind him in the distance of ten to eleven feet. In a sort of samurai motion, the bullets’ power scalpeled Iris' right ear completely off. As it did so, those silver headphones dangled by its wire to this wounded male's right thigh.

Melody shearing through that hallway's silence concluded on that final line of "Ramble On's" chorus, as that auditory canal was left barren. Angela had been an empress of several sexual fantasies. But, no being could have envisioned what was underway within the Eight Ball this night.

Speedy motion of this male's body caused a simultaneous action of pounding on that wooden door and trying to turn around to face this purveyor of pain. Another shot was fired into the base of Mendoza's tattooed neck on the right side.

Once pristine fabric of white had a crimson waterfall drifting down his back. Chinese symbols were suddenly concealed beneath a rickshaw of devastation's dirt road.

Right base of neck received a blistering flash of hot lead, as a soulful singer mused about a tale that can't be told, lightly rumbled from a lifeless pair of headphones on Iris Mendoza's hip.

Cornered in that hallway, a third pellet of pain found its target in Mendoza's back. This time, the puncturing of his right kidney caused a reflexive motion of bolting forward and pushing that closed door open.

Mendoza's back burned with fierce pain near his right kidney, as a string of words before that song's third chorus spun amongst that mystical midst of Mordor. Fair maiden of mirth lay beyond a closed office door. Dangling earphones of metal and black foam began smacking against wooden door four times, as his body began convulsing.

Actuation of Iris' flesh resulted in the person on that door's opposite side to be knocked backwards. Being with that unfortunate moniker in this midnight hour of despair was Angela Chase.

From that wooden door's movement, Angela's body bounced backwards against the arm of a metal bar stool a few feet behind her. Moaning, as she banged her left shoulder blade onto steel object, Angela was in a state of discomfort and dismay over what else could happen to this fragile female that night.

Flinging that right arm backward to catch her fall, Angela's hand hit right armrest of that metal chair and her head hit it's seat. With chipped fingernails from making a scraping against the door, she also had a previously bruised, right forearm after Espo had grabbed her tightly.

With his body slumped against that door, Iris pulled himself into the office. Crawling inside an illuminated office, Iris Mendoza clawed onto Angela Chase's bare legs. Muscular arms and hands used those limbs as a human anchor for gaining some entree further into this location. As he did so, she tried to squirm away from a bloodied Iris. Too bad that his body's weight was so overpowering for this tired woman.

Tale of mythical mammal, "Moby Dick" began to swirl from that music player, a solo of soaring proportion accelerated towards a volcanic conclusion. Jungle rumbling of a tiger or lion filled that air with an African, tribal beat.

Angie wiggled furiously away from him, as she tried to use the bar stool for leverage. Being too weak, Chase was left in a state of shock and oncoming unconsciousness. Any fight that this woman did have left expired as quickly as Iris Mendoza at her bare feet.

She became soundless on that carpet.

-------End Of Feature-------

This is “Over My Head: Haywire”:

Regret does not eradicate the past....

In life, sometimes a queen of hearts doesn't hold all the aces.

The lies which we tell ourselves can construct a spine to the weak and a reflection in the mirror that masks a reality which we never wish to speak.

Circumstances for Angela Chase change in a wave of catastrophic events. Can a wayward wife stay afloat?  Or, will she drown in being "Over My Head"? This is "Over My Head: Haywire", the third book in A.H. Scott’s four part "Over My Head" saga.

A wife. A husband. A lover.

Devotion came in a single kiss.

Sex. Money. Power. Lies. Obsession. Murder.

No one gets out of this life without paying a price.
