S O A R - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. But, neither is today. You do the best in life that you can. And, then you pray. The hours pass and today flies away. We know perfection isn't what life is about. Yet, there are those moments of pure undiluted pleasure that seems closest to the pureness of the good that seems like wrapping heaven in your own arms. Soar beyond the tree tops and your dreams will expand towards the sky so blue" - A.H. Scott 1/13/12

TIME'S TICKING - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

TIME'S TICKING

Time’s ticking

He’ll be here soon
Gotta get ready
My heart’s racing like I’m in Le Mans
Oh, it’s gonna be nice to see him again
So long it has been…
Oh, yeah…just a few months
But, just getting ready to see him again has made my body tingle like it used to the first time
Rolling out of bed, tossing hair upon my head
Bobby pins don’t fail me now….
Gotta shower with lavender, just like he likes
Wow, I’m acting like a kid again when I think about him
But, he’s a man….all man and I wouldn’t have him any other way
Time’s ticking
Gotta get dressed
Trashing my closet for the right thing to wear
I found a white silk blouse and red skirt and red shoes to put on
When he gets here, blue will be what we will share
Knock…knock
Baby, let’s rock….
When I opened the door, our lips locked…

QUINTESSENCE - A QUOTE BY A.H.SCOTT

"Kindness is not seen when all eyes in the spotlight are upon you. True kindness is seen when nobody is looking. It just occurs without fanfare, but with quintessence." - A.H. Scott 1/11/13

BEST FOOT FORWARD - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"Good people may sometimes disappoint you. But, they never fail you. Disappointing failures are the ones who never even put an effort forward to try to make something better. A person who at least starts the climb to the hilltop, is half way there in reaching their goals. The first step is a big one. But, so is the vastness of life. One foot in front of the other is all anyone can expect from another person." - A.H. Scott 1/10/12

ARIA OF LIFE - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"Tears are the salty evidence that proves we are alive. As they roll down our cheeks and we taste them with the tip of our tongues, they are ever changing drops of existence. In those moments of the deepest pain of loss, tears sting our eyes and hearts. Alas, those boundless seconds of pure lightness, brings happy trails of 'wonder water' to the surface. Pure glee exudes from every duct that expresses love, affection, adoration and bliss. I'm alive! And, my tears are my waterfall of being me. Glee & gloom are the revolving mirror that life brings us all. Let your waterfall glisten with the rainbow of revival.." - A.H. Scott 1/10/12

CAVEMAN KA-BOOM! - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"You are my flame, my passion, my lover. And, I am your rose in full blossom. You brought my soul out of mothballs with your whispers and caresses. Upon your bed, our bodies are unison in ecstasy. My hair is brushed by your skillful fingers, as I lay beneath you. Gliding with you is divine. When we first met, you seemed like a caveman wishing to devour me whole. And, I loved every raw romp we had in those first encounters we had. No doubts of whom was top cat. Your muscles definitely know how to take charge of me, in so many ways. Yet, now as I am with you, it's as if I'm the lioness and you are my helpless lamb. Fulfilling my flesh has become your pleasure. But, for me, consuming your heart is my ultimate delight. My fire is relighted and my petals flutter for you, my lamb" - A.H. Scott - 1/9/12

BE PROUD, BUT DON'T GET A BIG HEAD! - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"Pride doesn't come from without. Pride comes from within. But, make sure you don't think you're Dizzy, cuz' when you puff up your cheeks, you'll only be blowing hot air up your own ass. Balloon heads have shrunken souls." - A.H. Scott 1/8/12

NUDGING - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"Some gifts are priceless. The gift of self is without bounds of pennies, pearls, candy or flowers. Be it a silly song sung off-key. Or, a picture with a silly face upon it. The gift of giving oneself is an earnest exposure of one's emotions. Without the taint of second thought about whether the gift will be received well or not; it just is. Self is an unconditional treasure given to another. Give the gift of self and you might just be surprised. Like the scene in "The Lady & The Tramp; imagine yourself nudging a meatball across the plate. Sharing yourself is a gift that neither you nor the person you share with will ever forget. Nudging, nudging onward..." - A.H. Scott  1/8/12

WALLFLOWER - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

Wallflower

against the wall, she slumps and waits
high school dance passes her by
giggling girls and boys fumble on the gym floor
music of the eighties whizzes by
one slow dance
heatwave's always and forever plays
she clings to the wall, for no one asks her for that slow dance
lights dim to a slight hue of maroon
she taps her fingers against the wall alone
next to her are a few other flowers who were ignored and passed over

too tall
too short
too busty
too chubby
too ugly
too flat
too awkward
2 four eyes

final notes of forever sung by that singer
she sighs and holds palm to wall silently
wallflower withers
wallflower dithers

flower in bloom
another chance at the dance
always and forever plays at a night spot
triggers the memory of who she used to be
yet, now this wallflower's petals are flowing free
she doesn't have to wait
although she thought it may have been too late
not the wallflower any more

Rose has blossomed and bastes in the rays of delight
Wallflowers should never wait for the magic man who shall never be in sight
Florists of longing massages her vine and makes the petals bristle to life

Always and forever is a song that
fills her ears
But, in the end, the rose's pride has flourished in what she's learned through the years

Wallflowers unite and let the bouquet of your soul's tranquility take flight
Be your own flower of fantasy

Bees flitter around the rose once again.....

LIFE CAN FLIP THE SCRIPT - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"The funny thing about life is, just when you think you've got it all figured out; the heavens can flip the script at any second. You can just be left standing with your jaw dropped in surprise. Or, swallow your fear of the unknown and go with the flow. A nice warm wave will make you chuckle once in a while. What we may think is unknown, is truly a future endeavor that we haven't wrapped our minds around yet. But, we all have to move forward. It's a part of life. New waves can come into our lives and the laughter of letting our burdens go, can be the beginning of a calming tide coming for us all. Life is funny. But, that's why we have facial muscles to smile. SMILE WITH ME" - A.H. Scott 1/6/12

A QUOTE FROM JIM & AN ARTISTIC CONCEPT BY A.H SCOTT

“People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that's bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they're afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they're wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It's all in how you carry it. That's what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you're letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.” - Jim Morrison, poet

LET YOUR IMAGINATION TAKE FLIGHT WITH THE WORLDS OF A.H. SCOTT

"Freedom of speech isn't simply a bumper sticker which sparkles under sun's rays or when mud splashes upon it on a rainy day. It's granite of gravitas which is formulated via words, images, sounds or a mélange of all variances of the human experience." - A.H. Scott 1/17/13

WE LOVE SILENCE! - A FREESTYLE RANT BY A.H. SCOTT

WE LOVE SILENCE....!!

An A.H. Scott rant on America's fascination with revisionism...

"Voices who have been silenced in the past, are now the ones that are suddenly lauded with love from those who never gave a damn about them when they were as potent as a knockout punch." - A.H. Scott 1/16/12

Two men in particular I am going to focus on right now, because January is the month of their births. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. born January 15, 1929 and Muhammad Ali January 17, 1942.

To me, it seems that as the lens of history lengthens from the moment when these two men were at their zeniths of influence in society; they have become almost diluted into shadows by certain corners of media and pop culture.

Everyone around this time of the month pulls out MLK's "I Have A Dream" speech, almost like a reflex of how much America was so in love with this great man. Yet, when some bring up the speeches he gave near the end of his life and other parts of that aforementioned speech; then suddenly certain people try to cut off the dialogue about the depth and breadth of Martin Luther King's passion for justice for all.

From speaking out on economic issues to his opposition of the Vietnam War, MLK faced a hell of a lot of resistance. And, call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think it might have been what led to the events in Memphis. But, hey, I'm just being a cynic, right? (scoff)

Speaking of the Vietnam War, this what brings me to tie Dr. King and Muhammad Ali together. When Ali was kicking ass and at his prime, he was derided by many in the media and others in society for taking a stand as a conscientious objector.

Ali had a big mouth. (YEAH!!!) But, like John Shaft, he was more than man enough to back it up.

But, now because of his physical limitations and inability to verbally spar; suddenly he's the "Fluffy Teddy Bear" that everybody loves.

Some correspondents and journalist who report on the present day life of Muhammad Ali almost give a chuckle & a wink to those who view their news segments and written words about his past glory.

You see, when a person is silenced by the bullet or by a physical tap of fate; then that person is viewed as non-threatening to those in positions of power.

Dr. King becomes just that thoughtful preacher from Atlanta.

And, Muhammad Ali is just the man with the pretty smile from Louisville.

I think both men being silenced, in a duo of ways, shows the two-faced nature of the United States of America.

When Ali spoke out against the Vietnam War and the draft, all of a sudden, he was labeled Public Enemy #1 by some in the canyons of power.

And, don't let me started on J. Edgar Hoover and his feelings towards Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and COINTELPRO's objective to "prevent the rise of a black messiah".

Martin Luther King Jr.'s holiday has been packaged for consumption by some in the media in the most watered down way. Like some warmed over leftovers, a single speech given in 1963 is spoon fed to the American public like we are children or something.

Those who have read Dr. King's words beyond that speech, know he was much more than a doe-eyed dreamer of pacifistic words. He was that drum major in the parade of justice pride for civil rights for us all.

In or out of the ring, Muhammad Ali always will stand tall, whether or not the media wants to give him the true respect he is owed in speaking truth to power. His voice may be as low as a whisper, but Ali's heart and soul will forever be a growl of a lion for what he believes in.

Yet, I will now give the floor to another pair of American iconoclasts who can put it more bluntly:

Hunter S. Thompson (journalist) -

(source: Kingdom of Fear: Loathsome Secrets of a Star-crossed Child in the Final Days of the American Century- 2004 - http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Hunter_S._Thompson)

"We have become a Nazi monster in the eyes of the whole world, a nation of bullies and bastards who would rather kill than live peacefully. We are not just Whores for power and oil, but killer whores with hate and fear in our hearts. We are human scum, and that is how history will judge us. No redeeming social value. Just whores. Get out of our way, or we'll kill you. Who does vote for these dishonest shit-heads? Who among us can be happy and proud of having all this innocent blood on our hands? Who are these swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid little rich kids like George Bush? They are the same ones who wanted to have Muhammad Ali locked up for refusing to kill gooks. They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and vicious in the American character. They are the racists and hate mongers among us; they are the Ku Klux Klan. I piss down the throats of these Nazis. And I am too old to worry about whether they like it or not. Fuck them." - Hunter S. Thompson

---------------

George Carlin (humorist) -

"The way the world operates, anyone who told us that it was good to treat each other nicely was killed. Jesus Christ, Gandhi, Lincoln, Martin Luther King, The Kennedy Brothers. If you told people, "Be nice to each other," that was the end of you....

.....This country is a freak show. It's circling the drain. This culture has been, for some time and the circles are getting smaller and tighter and faster. And I revel in it. I am a critic of it all because I think it's a fascinating drama in self-destruction......

........Everyone should have the right to shelter and food and a way to get a job to provide shelter and food on your own. The government should provide for people. There ought to be a way to take care of human needs, and we haven't worked very hard at that. That's my complaint. They say underneath a cynic is a disappointed idealist. And that is what I am. And that flame can be rekindled, no doubt. But I'd rather take the comfort of the skeptics role and say, "You worry about it. I've got a job, and my job is making fun of it and showing people how badly they are doing"." - George Carlin

Rant Over.

C H A P T E R S - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

“Chapters of this book tell tales of love, death, suspense and remorse. They hold the imagination and make the heart beat faster towards an unexpected conclusion. VINTAGE VANTAGE - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

Vintage Vantage
Effervescence is a beauty that does not come from a bag of cosmetics
It's a shimmering shine that a woman has from within
Years of living encompasses a sexiness which those of tender age will never ascend to
Acrobatics are nice and appreciated by her male counterpart
But, not a necessity to be adored by a lover in between the sheets
The light in a woman's eyes makes all around her float upon air
To be THAT woman, is a truly a privilege to compare
She is a vintage all on her own

BURNED - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"Scarred flesh has a beauty of innocence upon it. Scarred soul is a disfigurement of desperation carved into it. A person can be burned by the sun and live with the scars forever. Like a tiny patch of skin seared from a hideous sunburn on the back of a woman who smiles to the world. Some may see this woman as decent enough to look at. But, she never saw herself beyond that moment the sun destroyed her virgin skin. A person can be burned by the bitter words of ignorance and close their hearts forever. Like a child told they aren't worthy of care & comfort by a caregiver. That once discarded child may grow up and live beneath a cloak of distrust forever. Scars only heal, when we decide to find a new path of personal peace. It comes...it comes.." - A.H. Scott 1/3/12

IT DON'T COME EASY (BUT, THEN AGAIN - THAT'S THE POINT) - A RANT BY A.H. SCOTT

I read a posting about plagiarism today. And, it set me off on this rant -

Message to anybody that has picked up a pen, pencil, crayon or chalk to place their thoughts in writing: "The gift of writing is the ability (for us who are authors) to be able to forget more about what inspired us to publish our writings, than whatever someone who thinks they can steal our words & thoughts will ever imagine to remember" - A. H. Scott.....

What's in a writer's mind is beyond what actually ends up as the final product on the page. It's a hell of a lot more than that. For myself, I have works that are actually ten to twenty times deep in background; which never gets seen in my finished works. Being blunt, every word I've ever written could be erased into the ether of time and I would still know more about the crumbs of what I've written than anyone looking in for some kind of cheap rip-off could attempt to recreate. Now, I'm not trying to be arrogant at all, as I make that point.

But, I am saying that a person who writes from the seeds within their own imagination, has the power to germinate a story or poem to its conclusion of harvesting something in the public eye.

We, as the writers of the universe, have been touched by an unseen fortune to envision the sunflowers. And, for me; I'm forever grateful for my ability to be blessed with a wonderful meadow of words in my head.

So, now I turn to the dark side of the coin of creativity...

Message to anybody that has been too damned lazy to come up with their own thoughts & use their own imagination: "To all who plagiarize and think they can cheat their way to the finish line of publishing; just remember the road to creativity can have some twists and turns that your small brains can't comprehend." - A.H. Scott....

Behind the pen, the poets/scribblers/writers/authors, all have one thing that the fakers/wannabes/corner-cutters will never be able to spell - TALENT..

Talent is something that just doesn't appear out of thin air. One day you wake up and suddenly sentences are strung together like freshwater pearls. Uh-uh-uh.

Anyone involved in writing, acting, music, dance or aspect of creating something out of nothing; have all paid their dues in hard work. What we all have in common is that ability to hone our craft into something we can be proud of. As in anything worthwhile in life, there are no short cuts.

Practice. Practice. Practice.

Finally, I end this rant with the words from a man born Richard Starkey. Oh, you might know him by his performing name, Ringo Starr - "IT DON'T COME EASY"....

A TIME TO RETHINK - A FREESTYLE RANT BY A.H. SCOTT

A TIME TO RETHINK - A FREESTYLE RANT BY A.H. SCOTT

"RANT ON - Trust isn't like tissue paper. It isn't used to blow my nose with when I feel a sneeze coming on. It's not going to be discarded into the trash with my snot of indifference or carelessness for your feelings upon it. Human beings are always looking for a connection to another. Whether we want to admit it or not. That is something that propels us forward in our relationships. Trust is a bond of me saying that I will never betray a confidence you tell me. And, I in turn trust in knowing that you have a moral compass in not ratting me out to anyone else. Trust is not static. Trust is singular and constant. There is no middle ground of thinking or believing you will turn you back on me. Those of our blood may never truly deserve our trust, for they know how to make the deepest cuts in our psyches. They can get inside of our hearts and twist the knife with a gusto of a Spanish inquisitor. Cynics are cloistered in the belief that the whole world is out to shaft them, in one way or another. There are moments that this is true. Yet, with age, we've all learned to weed out the leeches, liars and nerve-wreckers in our lives. Trust me, he or she might say; as the scam of business or personal dealings come your way. Yet, that tinge of yellow in the corner of our weary eyes can detect the conversation of such slick words. Your eyes won't lie to you, if you trust you instincts. Trust your own mind and the bond of truth can become unbreakable.....- RANT OVER" - 1/3/12

MOUNTAINS ARE PEBBLES - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"Sometimes it seems as if the pebble we are pushing up a mountain is a boulder. Then when our muscles start to flex our inner strength, that boulder can be pressed upward like a pebble. As we breathe, it's clear that there are levels on strength within us that we couldn't imagine we have. Yet, it's there. Behind the fears and qualms in daily living, a calming core holds our middle and keeps our backbones stiff in our resolve to succeed. Mountains never move, so we gotta all find another way around to the other side on our journey to what we need to survive in this world." - A.H. Scott 1/3/12

TO WHOM IT MAY OFFEND - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

SOJOURNIN' (AKA - YA' AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET!) - A QUOTE BY A.H. SCOTT

"The past never dies. It just ages and ruminates in our body and soul. The present is interesting and like a see-saw. Ah, but then the dulcet delight of the future is what fills our minds to continue another day. Past is a painful thing for some. Present is a a waking nightmare that never seems to change. Future is that peaceful horizon we all strive towards in the end. Change is never easy. For it were, a simple blinking of an eye would bring good karma to the world. But, changing one little thing about yourself might just change another's perception of you. And, if another human being could be able to grant you that grace of kindness on a gloomy day, then the change within you could be the transformation that's begun already." - A.H. Scott 1/2/12
