MORPH - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

 Morph

Grasping at straws
Trying to ignore the flaws
Best foot forward we all try
Yet, rhythm is a thing which can pass you by
Could I be another?
Younger, older
Stronger, wiser
Thinner, prettier
The answer is like a shadow on the wall
Being the certain him or her would be so swell
Morphing mannerisms we hope would shade ourselves from defeat
Stay one step ahead
Quease of lingering dread
The mirror don't lie
Even as hard as a person may attempt to be sly
You've gotta live with the person that is a singular soul
There is only one like you
Even in those heady moments you wish to be like somebody else
There is no I in Him or Her
Morph into the treasure trove of your own heart
