SUMMER'S REST - A POEM BY A.H. SCOTT

Summer's Rest

Summer's rest
Melody forever lingers on
Even as I write this poem, my toes are tapping to unforgettable beats
Thinking back to younger days, when I could twirl in a black dress
Oh, we all remember those tunes of rhythm and dances under colored lights
And, to hear Donna's voice was such a thrilling delight
Heaven now knows it has another angel in the choir
Sophisticated singer with a chocolate drizzled desire on wax
Treat her right, for she worked hard for the money
Unconditionally we loved Ms. Summer
Vocal violet with honey soaked chords of heavenly thunder
It was your voice that was a wonder
Gardenia placed beneath spotlight on center stage
Never forgotten as the decades have turned the page and we've all aged
So, farewell to a talent which put our hearts and souls in a joyous trance
Rest in peace, Donna Summer and I personally want to thank you for the grandest dance
